About Extract Images
Extract Images pulls embedded images out of a PDF. Use it when a report contains product photos, charts, scanned signatures, logos, diagrams, or illustrations that you need as separate image files. This is different from converting a full PDF page to an image. Extract Images looks for images inside the PDF. PDF to Image renders whole pages. If you want the entire page as a JPG or PNG, use PDF to Image. If you want only the photos or graphics stored inside the file, use Extract Images. Some PDFs store every scanned page as one large image. In that case, extraction may return full-page images rather than individual photos.
Updated June 2026: Added guidance for pulling photos, charts, scanned page images, logos, and understanding when PDF-to-image is the better tool.
