About Split Sheets

Split Excel Sheets separates a workbook into smaller files or individual sheet outputs. It is useful when a workbook has department tabs, monthly tabs, client tabs, private sheets, or sections that need to be shared separately. Before splitting, check formulas that reference other sheets, hidden tabs, pivot tables, and shared lookup sheets. A separated sheet may lose context if it depends on another tab. After export, open each output and confirm the right sheet, labels, totals, and formulas are present.

Updated June 2026: Added guidance for splitting Excel workbooks into separate sheets/files for sharing, privacy, departments, and smaller uploads.
